Intro
Fiverr is a freelancing platform, so let’s address the question: what is freelancing?
Freelancing is where you’re self employed and can work for yourself having complete time and location freedom. You are hired on for individual projects by multiple companies at once to help them remotely.
Where can you freelance?
Well there are many websites to freelance on like Upwork, Freelancer, Revolancer, Guru, People per hour, and the list goes on. But Fiverr is and always will be #1 in my book.
That’s why today’s YouTube video is all about Fiverr.com!!
If you prefer to watch this lesson on YouTube here is the 15-minute video:
The History of Fiverr
Fiverr.com started back in 2010 and it was called Fiverr because the sellers mostly sold $5 offers - hence the name Five-rr.
It was started for the purpose of helping connect buyers with sellers. PS buyers are typically individuals, small companies, or large companies who are searching for help with a project. Sellers are freelancers like myself who have services to offer and are available for hire.
At the moment, Fiverr hosts millions of gigs or active services being offered online by thousands of sellers (freelancers).
How Fiverr works from a seller perspective is you get to list your profile account and services to sell on their platform. It’s completely free to sign-up and become a seller. Then anytime you make a sale, you get to keep 80% of the payment and Fiverr gets 20%.
Fiverr has come a long way since 2010 and they’re always evolving each year to keep up with the needs of buyers and sellers.
In 2013 they launched their app which in my opinion was the biggest game changer. It made my life 10x easier because I could now respond to messages from buyers from my phone from anywhere - no longer needing my laptop. You see, Fiverr values very fast communication. So being able to communicate with buyers from your cell phone anywhere in the world (as long as you have cell service or wifi) was monumental.
Then in 2019 another big change they made was the addition of subscriptions. This now allows us freelancers to sell our services and encourage buyers to subscribe to weekly or monthly services for a slightly discounted rate (which is completely up to us). This way we can build more long-term relationships with buyers and have more regular business = more revenue!

Why you Need to Join
I personally believe that everyone has something they can offer as a freelancer on Fiverr. The possibilities of services or products you can sell on there is endless - seriously.
Here are 3 reasons why you should join Fiverr:
It’s free - the only time you pay is if you make a sale or if you want to upgrade to a Seller Plus account for more mentorship
It’s easy & quick to join - it literally takes less than half hour to create an account and then submit to become a Seller
It’s the perfect side hustle - because it can be done from anywhere on your own time and you get to choose what you sell
If you’re been wanting to make more money on the side while doing something you enjoy, setting your own rates, and helping others online then freelancing may be the perfect fit for you!
